The HOME Inspection program is entrusted with the responsibility of inspecting federally funded building projects through the Housing Department’s Occupancy Monitoring Unit. The inspector’s are mandated to perform these inspections by a 30 to 50 year Loan Covenant tied to the properties. The inspection process runs one to three year cycles based on the number of units at each property, (i.e. 1-4 units every three years, 5-25 units every two years, and 26 units and over every year). The inspection program has completed SCEP-type inspections and the same legal remedies. The current inventory is 567 properties for 10,439 units. The future of the program is bright, as the re-inspection cycles are mandated for the next 30 to 50 years.
